Overview
Tradetech Services Australia (TSA) delivered consolidated underground services and structural civil infrastructure for the Tier IV NEXTDC M2 (Tullamarine) and M3 (West Footscray) data centres as part of Kapitol Group’s high-reliability delivery program.
TSA installed the Combined Services Routes (CSR), integrating electrical, hydraulic, fire, and communications infrastructure from network connection points to building interfaces. Works were delivered within staged construction environments and carefully sequenced to align with structural steel erection, modular plant installation, and progressive data hall construction.
Scope of Works
TSA delivered extensive civil, structural, and services infrastructure across both facilities. Works included trenching for combined services corridors, construction of service pits, reinforced concrete bases, and installation of precast and in-situ concrete elements.
High voltage and low voltage conduits were installed to substations and switch rooms alongside fibre and communications infrastructure. Fire, water, and drainage services were extended to building interfaces, with associated civil works completed for generator and transformer bunds.
Delivery Methodology
Works were delivered within a live, staged construction environment requiring close coordination across all service disciplines. Services were consolidated within defined corridors, with BIM used to coordinate routing and identify clashes.
CSR delivery was prioritised to protect critical path activities and align with progressive data hall construction. Deep trenching, large service pits, and multi-service installations were completed within constrained footprints, supported by engineered backfill solutions and strict QA processes to meet Tier IV and VEDN requirements.
Outcome
TSA successfully delivered the enabling infrastructure required to support the upgraded rail signalling control system across multiple locations. Works included construction of structural slabs, crane installation of control buildings, communications pole installation, switchboard infrastructure, communications cabling installation and mechanical services preparation. All works were delivered safely within a live rail environment and in compliance with VicTrack standards, providing ready-for-cutover assets that enabled the transition to the upgraded rail signalling network.
